John Major Visits Great Gransden

I came across these photographs. We invited the Rt Hon John Major CH MP to visit the church during our fund raising efforts for the tower and bells restoration in 2000. I was leading the restoration project and so was MC on the day. The first photograph shows me introducing him to Sheila. The second photo is of me explaining how the chiming apparatus works. After the visit he gave me contact details for a visit to the Elizabeth Tower to see Big Ben.  I arranged a day out for a group of friends and we were lucky enough to be amongsts the bells when the clock struck at midday. Excellent!
